Be Your Own Permission Slip

Rest is essential. Giving yourself permission to do nothing, is the best way to get things done. In this moment, I give myself permission to go gentle on myself.

When you have so many things going through your mind and are unsure which direction to take, what do you do? How do you decide what to do next? I have it in my schedule to write this article for my blog and as I am sitting here, there are about a million and five things that I want to write about. I started about ten paragraphs and just did not feel it was right, so I started another one.

It was time for a pause. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths. I was inspired to pick an oracle card from one of Colette Baron-Reid decks and guess what it said? It was totally in line with how I was feeling. I needed to stop, breathe, and rest. The world will still be here when I am done resting. If the words are not flowing freely, I choose not to force them. I do not believe that is helpful and the point of this blog is to be helpful by sharing my experiences, hoping others will relate. Today, I experienced rest and my hope is the same for you.

If you are not ready to write your own permission slip, borrow mine. You have permission to rest.

I have committed to showing up for this blog to make a weekly post and I try to stay true to what I say I am going to do. I also realize that it is not that

Today I was reminded how important it is to remember that you don’t need to know everything all the time.

Do you journal?

I used to. A lot but not so much anymore. When journaling, I like to reread what I have written before writing more. For almost 3 years now, I read through my past and just don’t feel like writing like I did before reading my entries. I now prefer to just reflect on how far I have grown or like to look at how my views and values on some things have not changed.

How do you help others when you are feeling as though you can barely help yourself?

The definition of Cusp is a point of transition (as from one period to the next) it is a turning point and through life, we continue moving from cusp to cusp from one period until the next, until the day we die. I feel such importance in recognizing these cusps of your life and realizing that the big moments, the big shifts in our life don’t come from grand gestures, from moving mountains, you get to those big shifts by the small conscious choices you make each day that you are living.

Look at it like this: Life is an ocean of opportunities, the first step to truly exploring it means standing firmly on the cusp of the shore to simply take it all in. And recognition is this, Life is a beach and on the cusp is where you take that step into the ocean and ride the waves. It is showing up in this world just as you are and whether you are slowly walking the shore or you choose to jump right in, how you get there doesn’t matter, it just matters that you show up. and I am committed to showing up, I am committed to my own personal growth, Are you? Come join me at the cusp and let’s ride these waves together.
